In this course you will learn to work with Atlas.ti. This is a powerful tool for the qualitative analysis of large amounts of textual, graphic, audio and video data. This tool helps you organize, reassemble and manage your data in a creative, but also systematic way. ATLAS.ti keeps you focused on the material itself. This tool is increasingly used by, for example, the fields of anthropology, economics, criminology and medicine.
This course first introduces some basic concepts that are important to know when working with ATLAS.ti. This is followed by a step-by-step instruction in which the student works with an example project. After learning the main functions of the package, the components of the user interface, the student is guided through the different phases of an analysis process.
The learner will work on building a project, exploring the data, coding, working with comments and memos, requesting data, networking and creating reports. In addition, the student gets to know a number of special options, such as preparing and importing research data and importing Twitter data, for example.
