COBOL Basics

  • Description
  • Planning and Registration

The COBOL basic course lasts 3 days and costs € 1395. At the end of the course, the participant knows the COBOL syntax and is able to write simple COBOL programs. COBOL is a programming language from the 1960s that is mainly used in business environments. The meaning of COBOL is Common Business Oriented Language (general business oriented language). COBOL has an old-fashioned image. This is because a lot of COBOL software is decades old. Due to the many adjustments in various styles and the adherence to outdated traditions, this software is often cumbersome and heavily coded. The programming language itself, on the other hand, is constantly expanded and developed. Many organizations therefore now opt for migration from old COBOL software to modern COBOL. After the basic course it is possible to follow COBOL advanced.

The following topics are discussed: setting up the program structure, guidelines for programming, Identification, Environment and Data division structure, constants and figurative constants, numerical formatting, iterations, loops, if then else constructs, programming methods for executing input / output assignments, mathematical assignments.

Learning objectives of this course:

  • The student can write COBOL software independently
  • You are familiar with a large number of programming concepts, which can also be applied in other languages
