The Course

This course is designed for employees of the Municipality of Amsterdam who have little to no experience working with CAD software. During this course, you will become thoroughly acquainted with the MicroStation Connect version. Over three days, you will engage in various exercises and master the 2D functions of the software.

Day 1: Introduction to MicroStation

The first day lays the foundation for working with MicroStation. The instructor will introduce participants to the interface and the various mouse functions of the program. Following this, work will begin with Accudraw. Under the instructor’s guidance, participants will complete several exercises, taking their first steps in drawing with MicroStation.

Day 2: Developing CAD Drawing Skills

The skills acquired on the first day will be further developed on the second day, which focuses entirely on CAD drawing. Participants will complete numerous exercises to refine their skills. The day includes working with various snapping and drawing functions and learning how to modify and manipulate elements in the drawing. Attention will also be given to layers and hatching.

Day 3: Advanced Features and Final Exercise

On the third day, participants will explore the advanced features of the program, including working with selections and cells. They will also learn how to use reference files to load various files. Finally, the drawings will be annotated and plotted. The day concludes with a final exercise.
After completing the course, participants will be able to work independently as MicroStation drafters.

Schedule and Location

The course spans three days, running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a week between each session. It will take place in the vicinity of Amsterdam, conducted in person. Coffee, tea, lunch, and laptops will be provided. You only need to bring your MicroStation login credentials.
